Winning the Invisible War: 7- Living in Freedom and Helping Others

Introduction

Question: What is spiritual warfare, and how can we discern what is accurate from all available information? Some people say it is inaccurate, and some say there is a "demon behind every bush."

Answer: Spiritual warfare is real and part of everyone's life. However, much of it is subjective, mainly because it is based on feelings rather than the objective truth of God's Word. Let's start to develop a solid foundation slowly.

This is post SEVEN in the series "Winning the Invisible War."

Series Verse:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” — Ephesians 6:10–11

Today's Verse

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

— Galatians 5:1

Why This Matters

Spiritual freedom isn’t just about breaking chains—it’s about learning to walk free daily.

Many believers experience moments of victory but quickly fall back into old patterns because they don’t know how to live free. Others walk in freedom but don’t realize they’re called to help others experience it too.

Freedom is not a destination—it’s a lifestyle.
And once you’ve experienced it, you’re called to share it.

Neil Anderson reminds us: “The goal of the Christian life isn’t just avoiding bondage. It’s becoming the person God created you to be and helping others do the same.”

What Scripture Says About Living Free

1. Freedom Requires Ongoing Surrender

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36
“Do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh…” — Galatians 5:13

Freedom isn’t automatic. It must be protected and maintained. Satan will keep looking for open doors. But daily surrender to Christ keeps your life guarded.

2. Freedom Leads to Fruitfulness

“Live as free people… but live as God’s slaves.” — 1 Peter 2:16
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…” — Galatians 5:22–23

Spiritual freedom isn’t just freedom from sin but to love, serve, and grow. A life truly set free will start to overflow with the fruit of the Spirit.

3. You’re Called to Help Others Be Free

“The Lord… has anointed me to proclaim freedom for the captives.” — Isaiah 61:1
“They triumphed… by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” — Revelation 12:11

Your story matters. The victory you’ve found in Christ becomes a weapon to help others walk out of the darkness. You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to be free.

Neil Anderson’s Insight

In The Steps to Freedom in Christ, Neil Anderson emphasizes that maintaining your freedom means daily abiding in Christ, staying in the Word, walking in community, and continuing to replace lies with truth.

Anderson also stresses the importance of disciplining others in freedom—not by controlling them but by helping them encounter Jesus for themselves.

He writes: “The role of a discipler is to help others win the battle for their minds by helping them believe what is already true about them in Christ.”

Practical Application Steps

  1. Establish a Daily Freedom Routine
    • Read Scripture daily—focus on identity, authority, and God’s promises
    • Practice “truth declarations” aloud
    • Pray regularly to stay submitted to God and resist the enemy
  2. Join a Small Group or Freedom-Focused Bible Study
Walking in freedom is hard alone. Surround yourself with people who encourage your growth and keep you grounded in truth.
  3. Tell Your Testimony
Share how God brought you freedom—at church, in conversation, or on social media. You never know who needs your story.
  4. Help Disciple Others Using Freedom Tools
Use The Steps to Freedom in Christ or Victory Over the Darkness to help others walk through spiritual battles. You don’t have to be a pastor to be a guide.
  5. Stay Alert and Humble
Freedom isn’t about being perfect—it’s about staying honest before God and others. When you stumble, repent quickly and return to the truth.

Final Bottom Line.

The invisible war doesn’t end—but neither does God’s power to set people free.

You were made for more than survival. You were made for victory, joy, purpose—and to help others experience the same.

So don’t just break your chains.
Leave them behind and help someone else do the same.

Freedom is yours.
