Don’t Miss What’s Coming

Introduction

Easter is coming.

In just a few days, we will celebrate the greatest victory in history. But before we rush to the empty tomb, we need to slow down and remember what it cost to get there.

If we skip ahead too quickly, we will celebrate the resurrection without fully understanding the cross.

The Weight of the Cross

Before there was an empty tomb, there was a rugged cross.

Jesus was not caught off guard. He walked toward it.

“He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:8

Jesus was not suffering needlessly. Jesus was becoming our substitution.

Every sin. Every failure. Every moment of rebellion. He carried it all.

The cross shows us two things at the same time. The seriousness of our sin and the depth of God’s love.

The Silence Before Sunday

There is a part of the story we often rush past.

The waiting.

The confusion. The grief. The silence.

The disciples did not know Sunday was coming the way we do. For them, it felt like everything had fallen apart.

“We had hoped that He was the one to redeem Israel.” – Luke 24:21

Maybe you have felt that kind of silence before. Prayers that seem unanswered. Situations that feel unresolved.

This week reminds us that just because God is quiet does not mean He is absent.

Prepare Your Heart

Easter is not meant to be casual. It is meant to be experienced.

So instead of just showing up on Sunday, take time this week to prepare your heart.

Slow down. Reflect. Lean in.

Four Ways to Get Ready for Easter

1. Reflect on the Cross Daily

Spend a few minutes each day reading through the crucifixion accounts.

Let it be personal. Jesus did not just die for the world. He died for you.

2. Confess Honestly

Do not carry sin into Easter weekend.

Bring it into the light now.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us.” – 1 John 1:9

Confession clears the way for deeper joy.

3. Create Space for God

Turn down the noise this week.

Less distraction. More reflection.

Even ten minutes of quiet can help you refocus your heart on what matters most.

4. Invite Someone to Come With You

Easter is one of the easiest times to invite someone to church.

Think of one person who needs hope and reach out.

A simple invitation could change someone’s life.

Let the Story Build

Do not rush to the ending.

Sit in the tension of the story this week. Feel the weight of the cross so that the joy of the resurrection hits deeper.

“For the joy that was set before Him He endured the cross.” – Hebrews 12:2

Sunday is coming.

But do not miss what God wants to do in you before you get there.

Slow down. Lean in. Prepare your heart.

Because when you truly understand the cross, the empty tomb will mean even more.
