Introduction

Book Title: Family Driven Faith
Author: Voddie Baucham, Jr.
Personal Rating: 9/10.

I have heard it said that the church is NOT the hope of the world. It is the family that IS the hope of the world. Families make up the church and the church impacts the world.

The problem with this is that many who are beginning families today have little to no examples of what a God-honoring family looks like. What does it look like to have daily devotions? How should we do devotions? Who should lead the way? All these questions and more are answered in this great book by one of my favorite communicators, Voddie Baucham.

Growing up, my dad was and still is a great man and pastor. I watched him follow God in such a way that inspired me to do so as well. But... there was a problem. I had no idea how to replicate what I saw. My family did not do daily devotions. Therefore, it was difficult to figure this out on my own. Because of this, I am working slowly toward trying to figure out how to do this for my family I will be honest that we get it more wrong than right. This book has helped me... not as much with the practical how-tos... but with a new confidence that we are headed in the right direction.

Amazon Bio:

More teens are turning away from the faith than ever before: it is estimated that 75 to 88 percent of Christian teens walk away from Christianity by the end of their freshman year of college. Something must be done.

Family Driven Faith equips Christian parents with the tools they need to raise children biblically in a post-Christian, anti-family society. Voddie Baucham, who with his wife has overcome a multi-generational legacy of broken and dysfunctional homes, shows that God has not left us alone in raising godly children. In his Word he has given us timeless precepts and principles for multi-generational faithfulness.

Baucham’s celebrated guide for godly, healthy families is now available in paperback, with study questions added. Parents will find this a critical resource for the spiritual nourishment and protection of the next generation.

Quotes:

“We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Romans.”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“The key is to understand that our children don't belong to us—they belong to God. Our goal as parents must not be limited by our own vision. I am a finite, sinful, selfish man. Why would I want to plan out my children's future when I can entrust them to the infinite, omnipotent, immutable, sovereign Lord of the universe? I don't want to tell God what to do with my children—I want Him to tell me!”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“Our Heavenly Father doesn’t count to three when He gives us a command. It is not a sin to disobey God when He counts to three; it is simply a sin not to obey God. And delayed obedience is disobedience.”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“We do marriage according to Dr. Phil, raise our children according to Dr. Spock, govern our sex lives according to Dr. Ruth, and only run to Dr. Jesus when things have gotten so bad we can’t find another doctor to help us.”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“The question is not whether or not our children sin later in life. The question is, do we have a biblical obligation to train them before they leave home?”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“If you want to be a godly head of a family, you must ensure that there is Christian harmony among those under you, appropriate for a house where the leader fears God. JOHN BUNYAN”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“Love is an act of the will accompanied by emotion that leads to action on behalf of its object.”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“Modern American dating is no more than glorified divorce practice.”
Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

“If we don’t teach our children how to behave, Bart Simpson will. Turn off the TV, and hand your kids a book.”
