Hello friends. Happy Saturday!
October ends with changing seasons all around us and another month disappearing from the calendar. Psalm 103 invites us to stop long enough to remember what God has done. David actually speaks to his own soul and tells himself not to forget the goodness of God. That is a habit worth developing as we prepare to enter the final months of the year.

📚 Scripture. 💪
Psalm 103:2 NLT
"“Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.”
Observation: David understands how easy it is for people to forget the goodness of God. That is why he deliberately tells his own soul to remember. He begins listing examples of God’s grace, including forgiveness, healing, redemption, love, and compassion. Remembering what God has done gives us reasons to praise Him today. It also strengthens our faith when we face something difficult tomorrow. God’s past faithfulness becomes evidence we can carry into future uncertainty. We may forget individual blessings, but God never stops being good. Sometimes one of the healthiest spiritual practices is simply stopping long enough to remember.
Application: Write down five specific ways God has been faithful to you this year and thank Him for each one.
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for Your forgiveness, compassion, faithfulness, and every good thing You have done in my life. Help me remember Your goodness and let those memories strengthen my faith for whatever comes next.

📣 Sermon/Testimony. When God Says No. (Dr. Carlton Byrd)
Dr. Carlton Byrd. teaches from Paul’s thorn in the flesh in 2 Corinthians 12 and explores what happens when God does not answer our prayers the way we hoped. He reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient even when He chooses to change us rather than change our circumstances. This is an encouraging message for anyone learning to trust God’s wisdom and strength during seasons of disappointment, weakness, or unanswered prayer.
🤔 Apologetics. Frank Turek vs. Christopher Hitchens: Does God Exist?
This debate brings together two opposing perspectives on the existence of God and allows you to hear the arguments presented side by side. As you listen, consider the assumptions behind each argument, the evidence offered, and whether the conclusions logically follow. It is a helpful exercise for developing the ability to listen carefully, think critically, and better understand the questions surrounding the Christian faith.
🧠 Mental Health. How to Stop Overthinking: The Skill of Cognitive Defusion.
Overthinking can trap us in an exhausting cycle of analyzing, worrying, and trying to control things that have not even happened. This video introduces a practical skill called cognitive defusion that can help us recognize thoughts without allowing every thought to control our emotions and actions. It is especially helpful for anyone who struggles with racing thoughts, repetitive worry, or difficulty mentally letting go of a problem.
📚 Book Recommendation. The Coaching Habit. (Michael Bungay Stanier)
The Coaching Habit teaches leaders to resist immediately giving advice and instead learn to ask better questions. Its seven-question framework can be particularly valuable in discipleship, staff leadership, mentoring, and pastoral conversations. It encourages leaders to help people think, discover, and take responsibility rather than becoming dependent on the leader for every answer. For Christian leaders who spend much of their lives helping people grow, this is a practical tool for becoming a better listener and developer of people.
✍️ Quote of the Week That Makes You Think
“Reason is the natural organ of truth, but imagination is the organ of meaning.”
— C. S. Lewis
🤪 Dad Joke of the Week
Why are trees so forgiving in October?
Because every year they just let it go. 🍂
🤪 Meme of the Week

We are often better at remembering our problems than remembering our blessings. Psalm 103 teaches us to intentionally rehearse the goodness of God. Before October ends, take some time to look backward and notice how He has carried you. Remembering yesterday’s faithfulness can give you courage to trust Him with tomorrow.
