My favorite episode this week: Philippians 4:6-9

📚 Scripture. 💪

(Philippians 4:6-9) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Observation: Not too long ago, there was a breakthrough in the mental health world. It was called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The gist of CBT was to think about what you think about. Instead of letting our thoughts control us, this therapy suggests we take control of our thoughts and categorize them properly. Unfortunately for the creators, they were about 2,000 years off. Long ago, God’s Word said the same thing. God’s Word says the cure to anxiety is to get God involved, reframe our thoughts, and trust Him to do all the things we can’t. No, don’t get me wrong. This is not easy. But it is possible. It takes time and constant attention, but we can take control of our thought life.

Application: Think about what you think about.

Prayer: Thank You for healing my worries and fears when I give care to you. This gives me space to process them and then take the next steps.
