Introduction

*This weekly newsletter will share about the Bible Breakdown podcast, things about RLC, and my favorite things from around the web. My prayer is it will help you know God better.

Hello friends. Happy Saturday!
By the second week of October, another year can suddenly feel like it is moving faster than we expected. Psalm 90 reminds us that our lives are brief, but that truth is meant to give our lives focus and purpose. Moses asks God to help him understand the limited number of days he has been given. His prayer is a good one for all of us as we think about how we are spending the time God has placed in our hands.

πŸ“š Scripture. πŸ’ͺ

Psalm 90:12 NLT
"Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.”

Observation: Psalm 90 contrasts the eternity of God with the shortness of human life. God sees generations come and go while remaining unchanged. Moses understands that our time on earth is limited. Recognizing that reality does not have to make us fearful or discouraged. It can make us wise about how we use the days we have. Every day becomes an opportunity to love God, love people, and invest in what matters eternally. Wisdom understands that time is one of the most valuable gifts God has given us. A meaningful life is built by faithfully using the days God places in front of us.

Application: Ask God to show you one way you can use your time more intentionally for something that truly matters.

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for every day You have given me and for the people and opportunities You have placed in my life. Teach me to use my time wisely and invest my life in things that have eternal value.

πŸ“£ Sermon/Testimony. Exposing the Cultural War on Truth & Reality. (Frank Turek)
Frank Turek examines how our culture thinks about truth and explains why logic still matters when evaluating competing ideas. He demonstrates how contradictions can expose weaknesses in arguments and why Christians should learn to think carefully about what they believe. This is a helpful message for anyone who wants to become better equipped to understand and defend a biblical worldview.

John Lennox explains why his Christian faith is grounded in evidence, reason, and the historical reality of Jesus Christ. He thoughtfully addresses some of the biggest questions surrounding God, meaning, science, and the resurrection. This is an excellent message for Christians who want to understand why their faith is intellectually credible and learn how to communicate it to others.

🧠 Mental Health. Turn Off Anxiety in Your Nervous System.
Anxiety is something we experience in our bodies as well as our minds. This video explains what happens in the nervous system when we feel anxious and demonstrates practical techniques that can help our bodies settle down. Understanding these physical responses can give us useful tools for handling moments when stress or anxiety begins to rise.

πŸ“š Book Recommendation. Disciplines of a Godly Man. (Kent Hughes)
R. Kent Hughes makes the case that spiritual maturity requires intentional discipline. He applies that idea to areas including prayer, integrity, marriage, fatherhood, friendship, worship, leadership, purity, and the mind. The book is deeply practical while continually grounding spiritual disciplines in Scripture and the pursuit of godliness. It is an excellent choice for Christian men who want their spiritual growth to move beyond good intentions into consistent practices.

✍️ Quote of the Week That Makes You Think

β€œThe defense of the faith is not a luxury or an intellectual vanity.”

πŸ€ͺ Dad Joke of the Week

Why did the pumpkin sit on the front porch?
It had no idea where else to gourd. πŸŽƒ

πŸ€ͺ Meme of the Week

None of us knows exactly how many days we will be given. That reality can help us appreciate today instead of constantly waiting for some future season of life. Love the people God has placed around you, do the work He has given you, and enjoy the gifts He has put in your life. Ask Him to help you make today count.
