As July comes to an end, Psalm 8 lifts our eyes beyond ourselves and toward the greatness of God. David marvels at creation and wonders why a holy God would care about humanity at all. Yet the psalm reveals that God has given people dignity, purpose, and value. It’s a beautiful reminder that our significance comes from Him.

Psalm 8:3–4
“When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?”
Observation: David responds to creation with awe and humility. The greatness of God makes human beings seem incredibly small. Yet instead of ignoring humanity, God lovingly cares for us. This psalm reveals both God’s majesty and His personal attention toward people. True humility comes from seeing ourselves rightly before God. This chapter reminds us that our value is rooted in His care for us.
Application: Take time this week to worship God for both His greatness and His personal love for you.
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, that even though You are infinitely great, You still care deeply about me. Help me live with humility, wonder, and gratitude before You.
